My Take on our most pressing Issues

I experienced our housing crisis firsthand when I moved here. It's the reason I decided to run for this office.

The solution to the housing crisis here is simple, but it's not easy: we must build more homes for sale and for rent. This will come with its own set of benefits and challenges, but we cannot ignore this problem any longer. When our workforce is commuting from Burlington and Everett, we are asking too much of them.

I will also work with our cities to concentrate density there to preserve our rural character, provide easier access to our infrastructure, give equitable access to resources and jobs for those who do not have cars so that they can utilize Island Transit, and create more demand in our city hubs for the nearby businesses.

Housing solutions

As a rural healthcare system who serves many VA and Tricare patients, our medical access is a top priority for me.

I will continue to coordinate with nurses and legislators to discover where our opportunities are, especially for our most vulnerable populations like the elderly and children.

I will work with Whidbey Public Health to expand valuable resources available to every member of our community, because a healthy public means a healthy island.

Fighting for Your Access

protecting & expanding Healthcare

We are susceptible to natural disasters like earthquakes, wildfires and tsunamis in Island County. I believe we are not adequately prepared for these types of emergencies both at a county level and as residents. We need to prepare now for what could come later.

As a small business owner myself for over a decade, I understand the unique hurdles of starting and running a business.

I understand cashflow issues and seasonality, and will work with our main street associations, chambers and tourism boards to invite sustainable, profit-producing foot traffic to Island County.

I am committed to supporting women's reproductive health and access to opportunities in Island County. I will work with local administrators, officials and employees to improve our domestic abuse resources for both men and women, and to hire as many SANE certified nurses as we can afford as a county. I see childcare as a function of public health, and will work to create more access to childcare at reasonable costs.

I am committed to supporting women's reproductive health in Island County and will always protect access to reproductive care on our Islands so women do not have to travel for the care they need.

I'm voting NO on 2117 and 2066.

Climate concerns are one of my highest priorities. I am committed to working with the State Commissioner of Public Lands to preserve our rural lands and recover old-growth forests.

I support our long-standing local non-profits who work tirelessly in their respective areas, and I will lean on their learned expertise for sustainable solutions that benefit both our islands.

We need more trails and bike lanes to support a safer, healthier county. I am a proponent of a Bridge to Ferry trail on Whidbey, and will advocate strongly for state, federal and grant funding to finally make this a reality.

Additionally, relying on a car for transportation is expensive. Car ownership costs have risen 40-50% since 2019. I personally had to buy a car when we moved here. With more options for travel, families can save money and spend more time doing things they love instead of sitting in traffic.
